SUBRAMANIAM BADRINATH

Brief Profile

Subramaniam Badrinath had been one of the consistent performers on the domestic circuit, piling on runs almost at will. Badri possessed immense mental fortitude and has a cool head on his shoulders.

He came into the national reckoning in 2007 when he accumulated runs for India A on their tours to Zimbabwe and Kenya. He then made a 200 against the visiting South African A side, after which the selectors picked him for the first 3 ODIs against Australia.

He got his chance to make his ODI debut when India toured Sri Lanka in 2008. He came in to bat when India was in a corner in a tight chase, and immediately brought all his experience into play as he forged a match winning stand with MS Dhoni to take India home.

He was picked for the Test squad to play against Australia in October 2008, but could not force his way into a packed middle-order. In 2009, he led India to a victory in the Emerging Players tournament in Brisbane.  Badri played for Chennai Super Kings in the IPL and became an integral part of their side in all five editions.

He decided to play for Vidarbha in 2014. A couple of years later, Hyderabad roped him as the captain of the side. The unassuming cricketer then reached the impressive landmark of 10,000 first-class runs when he crunched a century (134) for Hyderabad against Chhattisgarh in Valsad.
